Foreign Minister Spanta meets Deputy US Ambassador to Kabul


Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta met with Mr. Francis Ricciardone, Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the United States of America in Kabul.  Foreign Ministers thanked the US Deputy Ambassador for US support and assistance for Afghanistan’s reconstruction; the combat against terrorism and Afghanistan’s stabilization efforts.

He emphasized strengthened Afghanistan-US relations and appealed for sustained US support to Afghanistan’s stabilization.  On elections, Foreign Minister Spanta reiterated Afghanistan’s commitment to convene free, fair and transparent elections, scheduled for next month.

The Deputy US Ambassador highlighted US-Afghanistan friendship as “extraordinary” and assured Foreign Minister Spanta of continued US support and assistance for Afghanistan’s reconstruction and ensuring security in the country.

The two-sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
