UK ambassador gives lecture at the Ministry

The Ministry’s Center for Strategic Studies hosted a lecture by the UK ambassador to Afghanistan HE Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles. Amb. Cowper-Coles spoke of the UK’s policies and objectives in Afghanistan. He referred to the presence of mutually beneficial interests between Afghanistan and the UK as the main reason for the UK’s active engagement in Afghanistan.  He stressed that emergence of strong, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan will be in the national interest of the UK and as well as in the interest of the international community. He reiterated the UK long-term commitment to Afghanistan.

His speech was followed by Q/A session in which the invitees raised a number of questions related to the UK’s policies towards Afghanistan and the issue in Pakistan.  The lecture was attended by representatives from the Afghan Parliament, Afghan Ministry of Defense, Office of the President, Kabul University, Civil Society and the media.
