MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF AFGHANISTAN PRESS RELEASE ON THE TRANSFER OF AFGHAN PRISONERS TO AFGHAN GOVERNMENT 24 February 2010

Two-hundred and fifty Afghan prisoners implicated for various crimes in Tajikistan have been transferred to the Afghan government. The transfer of prisoners has taken place in accordance with the relevant agreements between the governments of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

The transferred prisoners will serve the remainder of their sentence in Afghanistan.

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, while reiterating the long-standing friendly relations between the two neighboring countries, expresses sincere appreciation for the decision of Tajik authorities to transfer the Afghan prisoners to Afghan custody.
