Deputy Foreign Minister Meets State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

Kabul – Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai met with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Kentaro Sonoura SONOURA today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the beginning, Mr. Karzai welcomed Mr. Sonoura and beside pointing out to the significant historic relations between the two countries, stated that Japan’s cooperation, as the second largest donor to Afghanistan, have positively affected the lives of the Afghan people during the last 15 years.

Mr. Karzai shed light on the political and security conditions of the country, as well as the Afghan Government’s achievements in the area of good governance, election reforms, and countering corruption and assured Afghanistan’s commitment for taking further steps in these areas.

Later on, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Kentaro Sonoura assured that Japan will further cooperate with Afghanistan in various areas and stated that, according to Japan’s pledge to cooperate with Afghanistan in Brussels Conference, the cabinet of Japan has approved the allocation of ‎¥90 billion for the improvement of security and assisting with the displaced people in Afghanistan.
