Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Release on Yesterday evening Terrorist Bombing in Kandahar Governor’s Guesthouse

January 11, 2016

Kabul – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack that took place yesterday evening at Kandahar governor’s guesthouse. As a result of this blast deputy governor of Kandahar, Kandahar foreign affairs chairman and one of the diplomats of Afghanistan’s Embassy in Washington DC were martyred, and the UAE Ambassador to Kabul and the governor of Kandahar sustained injury.

The explosion has occurred while the ambassador and a number of UAE diplomats were on visit to Kandahar province to open an orphanage as well as help the families of martyrs and orphans.

These barbaric acts of terrorists prove that they are the common enemy of both Afghan people and our international friends. Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that this heinous terrorist crime can not only undermine the friendly bonds between the two brotherly nations, but further strengthen the determination of the two countries to eliminate the main roots of terrorism.

The Ministry of Affairs expresses it deepest condolences and sympathies to the victims’ families as well as to the people and government of the United Arab Emirate, and pray Almighty Allah for the full recovery of the esteemed ambassador of UAE and Kandahar governor.
