Afghanistan – Pakistan Working Groups Meet in Kabul To Kick-off Discussions Towards APAPPS
KABUL — Afghan and Pakistani Delegates, headed by the two countries’ Deputy Foreign Ministers, met today to inaugurate and functionalize the working groups of Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace And Solidarity (APAPPS).
Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai in his opening remarks welcomed the Pakistani delegates and expressed hope for the desired outcomes of the working groups’ sessions. He reiterated Afghanistan’s commitment to cooperating with Pakistan in achieving peace in Afghanistan and the region.
Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ms. Tahmina Janjua also addressed the opening session, conveying her country’s strong commitment to APAAPS; noting that she is attending this important meeting while her country is only two days away from the elections.
The opening sessions were followed by the sessions of five working groups, namely: Politico Diplomatic Working Group; Military – Military Working Group; Intelligence Working Group; Economic Working Group; and Refugees Working Group.
The working groups’ sessions will last till late afternoon today.
