German Ambassador Designate Pays Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister
KABUL – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E Salahuddin Rabbani received the newly appointed Ambassador of Germany to Kabul on his courtesy call this morning.
In this meeting, the Foreign Minister welcomed the Ambassador designate and expressed his gratitude for the cordial and sincere support and cooperation of the friendly nation of Germany in the last seventeen years in the areas of diplomacy, military and economy, particularly huge investments in Afghanistan. Minister Rabbani also talked in details about the current political and security situation, the Afghan Government’s efforts and progress thereof, the upcoming elections and preparations for holding the Geneva Conference on Afghanistan.
Later, Ambassador designate of Germany to Kabul said that peace & stability, and political and economic development in Afghanistan were very important for Germany and that Germany supported an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process. He assured his country’s commitments in terms of long term support to Afghanistan and stressed that Germany has put extensive efforts for the success of the Geneva Conference on Afghanistan and that his country was considering expansion of cooperation with Afghanistan in various areas in the upcoming years.
