Reconstruction and Development of Afghanistan

The Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi on 18-19th November 2006.
The conference reviewed the implementation of the December 2005 Kabul Declaration on Regional Economic Cooperation. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, transport, trade, investment and agriculture, while promoting capacity building and focusing on regional projects.

India Announces Concession for SAARC Tourists

17 July 2007: New Delhi

India has announced to charge the same entry fee as Indians to monuments ticketed by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Announcing this at the consultative Committee meeting of Parliament

on Tuesday, the Indian Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni said the step had been taken to promote “regional solidarity.”

Indians pay Rs. 5 for 101- B category monument and Rs. 10 for 15- A category monuments, while foreign tourists are charged Rs. 100 or $ 2 and Rs. 250 or $ 5 respectively.

It was informed at the meeting that an amount of Rs. 933 crore will be spent in the 11th Five Year Plan on monuments to make them more attractive through programmes like Light and Sound Shows.
