Reconstruction and Development of Afghanistan

The Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi on 18-19th November 2006.
The conference reviewed the implementation of the December 2005 Kabul Declaration on Regional Economic Cooperation. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, transport, trade, investment and agriculture, while promoting capacity building and focusing on regional projects.

Documents Forming Eurasec Customs Union to be Prepared Soon

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov has met today with the members of the EurAsEC Integration Committee including Industry and Trade Minister of Kazakhstan Galym Orazbakov, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Rapil Zhoshibayev, EurAsEC Secretary General Grigory Rapota,Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Byelorussia Andrei Yevdochenko and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Byelorussia in Kazakhstan Vasiliy Gapayev, Kazinform reports.

Within the meeting the sides concentrated on preparation of the legal framework for Customs Union formation. The attendees also approved the action plan on establishment of the EurAsEC Customs Union and discussed a number of necessary documents.

According to EurAsEC Secretary general Grigory Rapota, the draft documents forming the basis of the union will be agreed upon till July 25. The expert groups are expected to start working in August.
