Reconstruction and Development of Afghanistan

The Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi on 18-19th November 2006.
The conference reviewed the implementation of the December 2005 Kabul Declaration on Regional Economic Cooperation. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, transport, trade, investment and agriculture, while promoting capacity building and focusing on regional projects.

New Members Expected to Join CICMA in 2008

5 July 2007: Astana

New countries will join the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICMA) in the course of the 3rd ministerial meeting of the CICMA member states.

Jordan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, etc., are thought to become the CICMA members next fall, the Kazakh MFA's press service informs. The foreign ministers define the venue and date of the 3rd CICMA Summit and a chairman of the Conference for 2010-2014. The parties are supposed to sign a Convention “On legal competency, privileges and immunities of the CICMA Secretariat and its personnel,” to complete the process of the CICMA institutionalization and insert amendments to the Regulations.
