Reconstruction and Development of Afghanistan

The Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi on 18-19th November 2006.
The conference reviewed the implementation of the December 2005 Kabul Declaration on Regional Economic Cooperation. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, transport, trade, investment and agriculture, while promoting capacity building and focusing on regional projects.

Iran, Tajikistan to Broaden Transport Cooperation

6 May 2007: Tehran

Minister of Roads and Transport Mohammad Rahmati on Sunday called for expansion of mutual cooperation on land, air and rail transport between Iran and Tajikistan.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a confab on Iran-Tajikistan Transport in Tehran, he expressed satisfaction with the current level of mutual cooperation in the sector.

He said that the Iranian and Tajik officials have conducted fruitful studies on expansion of mutual cooperation in the sector.

There exist good grounds for expansion of railroad cooperation between the two countries, he underlined.
Tajik government has launched investment to construct terminal for transit of its products via Iran's territory, he said.

Trade between Iran and Tajikistan stands at dlrs 500 million which has registered a remarkable growth compared to that of three years ago.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a good transit route for Tajik products to the world market, Rahmati said.
