Reconstruction and Development of Afghanistan

The Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi on 18-19th November 2006.
The conference reviewed the implementation of the December 2005 Kabul Declaration on Regional Economic Cooperation. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, transport, trade, investment and agriculture, while promoting capacity building and focusing on regional projects.

Afghanistan will Host 17th Meeting of ECO Council of Ministers

The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan will host the Seventeenth Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation Council of Ministers (COM) between 16 and 20 October 2007. The Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) will precede the COM meeting. Sixteenth COM meeting was held in May 2006 in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is expected that officials and Foreign Ministers of all ten ECO countries viz. Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will participate in the meeting.

The programme of the meeting will be as follows:

October 16, 2007 : Arrival of the Officials
October 17-18, 2007 : Senior Officials Meeting
October 19, 2007 : Documentation/ Arrival of Foreign Ministers
October 20, 2007 : Meeting of Council of Ministers
