KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Ambassador of Finland to Kabul Mr. Hannu Ripatti in his office.
The meeting focused mainly on aspects bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest.
Deputy Minister Zaman and Ambassador Ripatti discussed issues related to the bilateral arrangements, as well as the status of progress in the peace efforts and exchanged views on the regional activities to this end.
At the outset, Ambassador Ripatti recalled with appreciation the Deputy Foreign Minister’s meeting with the Finnish visiting delegation, terming it as ‘extremely fruitful’. He also handed in the request for the Agrément of the Afghan government for his successor.
Deputy Minister Zaman Congratulated Ambassador Ripatti on the completion of his tenure in Kabul, wishing him the best of success.
The two sides discussed the upcoming important events. The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed the Finnish Ambassador on Kabul Process 3rd meeting due to be held in the coming months.
They exchanged views on matters related to the important event. The Deputy Foreign Minister informed the Finnish Ambassador of the pre-event consultations to be held bilaterally, adding that the ‘idea is to have everyone on board’.
The two sides emphasized the need for close cooperation between the Deputy Minister’s office and the Finnish mission in Kabul.
KABUL - The Leading committee on preparation of the 3rd United Nations Security Council Resolution-1325 implementation process report, headed by the Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Idrees Zaman and with the participation of the representatives of the relevant entities, was held today.
Mr. Zaman, talking on the report, deemed the use of the past experience in escalating the next reports as significant.
Following the presentation of details of the report, the participants put forward their recommendations on the contents and the form of the report.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the coordinating entity is responsible for the follow up, supervision and evaluation of reporting on the implementation of the UNSCR-1325 which after the finalization of the 3rd UNSCR-1325 implementation report by the leading committee and sending it to the President’s Office and the National Assembly is due to present the same to the United Nations.

The meeting focused on aspects of bilateral arrangements, issues of mutual interest and the upcoming events.
The Deputy Foreign Minister and the Czech Ambassador discussed issues related to the ties between the two countries and exchanged views on periodic bilateral consultations.
The two sides talked about the status of progress in peace efforts, including the activities taking place in the region.
Deputy Minister Zaman Briefed Ambassador Stepanek on the series of the visits by the country’s Foreign Minister and National Security Adviser, including the latter’s engagements in Saudi, as well as the Kabul Process 3rd meeting, describing the process as an overarching platform for all peace efforts.
Discussions and exchanges also covered security issues and recent sectoral changes.
The Czech Ambassador expressed contentment over the bravery of Afghan security forces, noting with appreciation that they are confronting a menace posing international threat.
On concluding the meeting Ambassador Stepanek noted that the periodic consultation should be scheduled during the year ahead.
TASHKENT – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani visited the new under construction Afghan Embassy complex in Tashkent.
The construction of the new complex which began on November 17, 2017, includes administrative building of the Embassy, consulate building and Ambassador’s residence. This complex is being built at a cost of approximately $4690000 on a land plot of five thousands and three hundred square meters.
After visiting all parts of the complex, Foreign Minister Rabbani directed Afghan Ambassador in Uzbekistan to accelerate the construction work and prepare the complex for inauguration until August 19, 2019 (28 Asad, 1398).

NANGARHAR – The new administrative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Agency in Nangarhar Province was officially inaugurated by Deputy Foreign Minister for Management and Resources Dr. Nasir Ahmad Andisha on January 13, 2019.
The building has been constructed in three floors based on national and international standards at a total cost of AFN 51 million out of the budget of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan over one and a half years period of time.
SAMARKAND – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Chyngyz Aidarbekov on the sidelines of the first India- Central Asia and Afghanistan Dialogue.
Mr. Aidarbekov called Afghanistan as one of the countries that are in the top priority of its country’s foreign policy and expressed the support of Kyrgyzstan in all sectors in Afghanistan. Describing his country’s investment promotion policy in the region, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister thanked the Afghan government for its attention to Kyrgyz Afghans and invited Foreign Minister Rabbani to visit Kyrgyzstan.
Foreign Minister Rabbani appreciated Kyrgyzstan’s support for Afghanistan and insisted on the importance of regional consensus for peace under the leadership and ownership of Afghanistan and invited Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 3rd Kabul Process meeting. Mr. Rabbani accepted the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister’s invitation to visit Kyrgyzstan and appreciated the seventy-five scholarships granted by Kyrgyzstan.
Both sides also discussed the Peace Process, connectivity, regional cooperation and trade development between the two countries.
KABUL – Deputy and Acting Foreign Minister Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Special Representative of the Republic of Finland for Afghanistan Ambassador Anne Meskanen and the country’s Ministry of Interior Official Mr. Eero Koskenniemi, in his office this afternoon.
The discussions in the meeting focused on the two countries’ bilateral arrangements, the 3rd meeting of Kabul process and issues of mutual interest.
The visiting delegation raised and discussed with Acting Minister Zaman bilateral consultations which take place biennially, as well as the issue of Afghan migrants.
The two sides discussed issues of common interest including the ongoing peace process.
The Acting Foreign Minister briefed the Finnish delegation on the peace roadmap which also provides for the post reconciliation arrangements.
The Finnish delegation reiterated Finland’s support for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan informing the Acting Foreign Minister of their participation in the International Contact Group meeting due to take place soon in London.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and Acting Foreign Minister Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Charge d’affaires of the US Embassy in Kabul Ms. Karen Decker, in his office this morning.
The meeting focused on a wide range of issues including the upcoming 3rd meeting of Kabul Process, the US engagement in the peace negotiation as well as the role of the regional countries in the ongoing peace process.
The Deputy and Acting Foreign Minister briefed the US official on the Kabul Process meeting, the message of this important event, its agenda and the level of participation, as well as the consultations due to be held prior to the actual event.
Ms. Decker welcoming the surrounding ideas called the meeting ‘very interesting and timely’. She briefed Acting Minister Zaman on Ambassador Zalmai Khalilzad’s visit to Kabul before attending the meeting in Islamabad.
The two sides also exchanged views on the role of the regional countries in Afghanistan’s peace efforts as well as the Heart of Asia Istanbul Process meeting due to be held this year. They also focused on the role the US government could play in Kabul Process.
Ms. Decker reiterated the US mission’s support of the timely Kabul Process meeting. She assured Deputy Minister Zaman of the US government’s efforts in securing peace in Afghanistan.
“The US government has engaged the smartest people in Afghanistan’s peace negotiation”, the US Embassy Charge d’affaires added.
KABUL—Deputy And Acting Foreign Minister Mr. Idrees Zaman met in his office with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Kabul Mr. Vinay Kumar.
The discussions in the meeting covered a range of bilateral and multilateral issues as well as those of common regional interest.
Ambassador Kumar briefed Deputy Minister Zaman on the elections due to be held in India in the coming months. He also recalled with optimism the Afghan National Security Adviser’s recent visit to India.
The two sides discussed the progress in the peace process and exchanged views on the activities of the international partners in the context.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also briefed Ambassador Kumar on the upcoming 3rd meeting of the Kabul Process, including on the overarching theme, participation, panel discussions as well as consultations the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will conduct with various society segments prior to the event on February 28 this year.
Acting Foreign Minister Zaman and Ambassador Kumar also discussed the Heart of Asia meeting to be hosted by Turkey this year.
SAMARKAND – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met with the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Mrs. Sushma Swaraj on the sidelines of the first India-Central Asia and Afghanistan Dialogue.
Mrs. Swaraj reaffirmed her country’s commitment towards Afghanistan. Both sides exchanged views on the dynamics of the peace talks, the Afghan-leadership and ownership element of the peace process and regional cooperation.
