MoFA Holds Press Conference on Foreign Minister’s Recent Trip and Peace Issues

KABUL – A press conference was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Foreign Minister Rabbani’s recent trip to Tajikistan for participating in C5+Japan Meeting with Afghanistan, the High-Level Conference on ‘Regional and International Cooperation on Counterterrorism and Its Financing through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime’, and the Peace Talks.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sibghatullah Ahmadi provided a brief on Foreign Minister Rabbani’s participation in the mentioned occasions and discussed Central Asia and Japan’s cooperation with Afghanistan in the areas of infrastructure development, strengthening economic cooperation between these countries, and establishing new regional mechanisms for combating terrorism and organized crime.

Mr. Ahmadi welcomed the regional and international efforts for facilitating direct talks between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Taliban representatives, in particular Germany and India’s recent engagements in this regard, and called for tangible actions to be taken by Pakistan aimed at Peace in Afghanistan.
