MoFA holds a Consultative Meeting on Peace and Women’s Role

KABUL – A consultative meeting was held under the title of “The Peace Process and Women’s Role in it” under the chairmanship of the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Idrees Zaman and the participation of the Federal Government of Germany’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Markus Potzel, as well as representatives of women and civil society activists of Afghanistan.

Deputy Foreign Minister Zaman provided a briefing on the recent developments of the peace process and women’s role in the process, adding “The achievements of the last 18 years shall be firmly guarded and that the protection of women’s rights in the country will be a red line during the peace talks”.  

In his remarks, Ambassador Potzel expressed his support of the peace process in the country and noted Germany’s amplified role in the process adding, “The German Government also looks forward for a vivid role of women in the peace process and wants the rights of women to be protected in the process.”
