Hafta-e-Shaheed, Eighteenth Anniversary of the Martyrdom of National Hero Ahmad Shah Massoud and Eighth Anniversary of the Martyrdom of the Shaheed of Peace - Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani Commemorated
KABUL - The Martyrs’ Week (Hafta-e-Shaheed) coinciding with eighteenth anniversary of the martyrdom of National Hero Ahmad Shah Massoud and eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of the Shaheed of Peace - Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani Commemorated during a glorious ceremony, with the participation of Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, President of Massoud Foundation Ahmad Wali Massoud, cabinet members, top government officials and a number of foreign ambassadors and diplomats in Kabul.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Quranic verses and national anthem. The Foreign Minister, In his opening remarks, prayed for the soul of the martyrs of freedom, especially the national hero and martyr of peace, stated that the current freedom and achievements of the country are the result of the sacrifices of the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of defending freedom and peace in this land. He emphasized the realization of lasting peace by preserving the achievements, stating that peace with dignity was the long-standing desire of the country's martyrs.
The Chief Executive also prayed for the soul of martyrs, adding: "The national hero, the Shaheed of peace Professor Burhanuddin and hundreds of others who have sacrificed their lives for achieving peace."
