KABUL – Acting Foreign Minister H.E. Idrees Zaman met with the US Ambassador to Kabul Mr. John Bass today.
The meeting focused on bilateral ties and issues of mutual interests.
The US Ambassador congratulated the Acting Minister on his appointment in the new position.
The two sides talked about the important developments in the two countries, including the status of progress in the US elections and the Afghan presidential elections.
The meeting also focused on the peace process in light of the Afghanistan - US bilateral relations.
The two sides reemphasized the Afghan- ownership and Afghan- leadership over the said process.
Ambassador Bass noted that the US involvement in the process is not a matter of monopoly, but for the Afghans to decide their future.
Foreign Minister briefed the US Envoy on the 7 point peace plan as well as the role of the foreign ministry in the process.
The two countries’ authorities also exchanged potential trilateral frameworks; Afghanistan- US- India and Afghanistan- US –Uzbekistan.
