Acting Foreign Minister Meets World Bank Country Director for Afghanistan
KABUL – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman met with the World Bank Country Director for Afghanistan Mr. Henry Kerali, today.
At the outset, the World Bank Country Director congratulated Mr. Zaman on successfully holding of the 8th Ministerial Conference of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process and expressed interest for being Participant Organization to the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process as supporting organization in the future. He also added that in principle the Foreign Minister had agreed and cooperated in this regards.
Foreign Minister Zaman briefed Mr. Henry on the World Bank’s role in post-peace Afghanistan more specifically on reintegration of ex combatants, conflict resolution as well as expanding trade and transit in the region.
Mr. Zaman also spoke in detail about the Donor Conference on Afghanistan which is due to be held in autumn of next year.
Afterwards, the World Bank Country-Director for Afghanistan provided information on consultations processes on development programs under the World Bank in line with Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ATRF) programs which will begin in January 2020 and will be organized in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Government of Afghanistan’s economic-development priorities. He also assured Minister Zaman of the World Bank’s preparation in this regard.
