Deputy Foreign Minister Meets Chinese Ambassador in Kabul
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation Mr. Mirwais Nab met with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Kabul Mr. Wang Yu, in his office this afternoon.
At the outset, the Deputy Foreign Minister briefed the Chinese Ambassador on the situation with regards to the Coronavirus Epidemic in Afghanistan particularly Herat province and Government of Afghanistan’s efforts to contain the virus. He stated that the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan had allocated AFN 400 million for fighting the CoVID19 in Herat province and that the Second Vice President Mr. Mohammad Sarwar Danish is due to travel to Herat to supervise the performance of the relevant personnel on the matter.
The Chinese Ambassador in Kabul explained the practices in this regard and shared the experience of China in fighting the virus. He also informed Deputy Minister Nab of the People Republic of China’s intentions to help and support the people of Afghanistan in fighting this menace by donating 5000 Coronavirus Testing Kits and assured of continuation of China’s cooperation in this regard.
Ambassador Yu continued by providing information on the videoconference of the leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization that is due to be held in near future and delivered the felicitations of the President of the People’s Republic of China on the election of Mohammad Ashraf Ghani as the President of Afghanistan for the second term.
