Deputy Foreign Minister Meets Indian Ambassador to Kabul
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation Mr. Mirwais Nab met with Ambassador of India in Kabul Mr. Vinay Kumar, in his office today.
The two sides discussed in details the recent price inflation due to the spread of Coronavirus and the situation regarding the CoVID19 epidemic. Mr. Kumar informed Mr. Nab of the readiness of 75,000 tons of wheat that had been donated to Afghanistan by India and assured the Deputy Foreign Minister that the said consignment of wheat was ready to be transported. Ambassador Kumar added that in case an Afghan delegation would like to travel to India to facilitate the transport, India would be ready to facilitate the trip despite the imposed restrictions on travelling, so that a possible food shortage is mitigated.
Deputy Minister Nab briefed the Indian Ambassador on Government of Afghanistan’s ongoing efforts such as supply of 24,000 tons of wheat to the local market, measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the country particularly Herat province, allocation of AFN 400 millions for the matter as well as the second Vice President’s upcoming visit to Herat to supervise the situation. He further extended his gratitude for India’s donation of 75,000 tons of wheat to Afghanistan.
