KABUL - The third round of trilateral meeting of Afghanistan, China and Pakistan Deputy Foreign Ministers was held via video link today before noon.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mirwais Nab, Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Luo Zhaohui, Deputy Foreign Minister of China and Sohail Mahmood, Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
During the discussions, the Deputy Foreign Ministers of China and Pakistan discussed the fight against the COVID-19 and the tripartite cooperation between the three countries. They praised the performance of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in releasing prisoners in order to facilitate the start of direct talks between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban. The participants called on Taliban to reduce violence and secure humanitarian ceasefire.
While emphasizing the trilateral cooperation between Afghanistan, China and Pakistan, all sides reiterated on their continued cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, the Afghan National Reconciliation Process, maintaining peace and stability and strengthening regional solidarity, and called on implementation of the third round of talks between the foreign ministers the three countries.
The meeting concluded with the release of a joint declaration.
