KABUL – Mohammad Haneef Atmar, Acting Foreign Minister, held a telephone conversation with his Dutch counterpart H.E. Stef Blok, this afternoon.
At the outset, Acting Foreign Minister thanked the government and people of The Netherlands for their continued cooperation and solidarity with Afghanistan over the past 19 years.
Referring to the recent developments in Afghanistan Peace Negotiations, Minister Atmar emphasized on the importance of regional and international consensus on the Afghan peace process and the need for reducing violence and establishing an immediate ceasefire. Minister Atmar underlined the importance of an end state that guarantees a lasting peace, preserves the gains of the last two decades, and protects Afghanistan from becoming a terrorist safe haven again.
Welcoming the commencement of the Afghan Peace Talks, the Dutch Foreign Minister assured Mr. Atmar of his government’s continued cooperation with the people of Afghanistan. Minister Blok also stressed on the importance of protecting and advancing the human rights, women’s rights, and the rule of law in Afghanistan. He reassured Minister Atmar of his government’s preparedness to participate in Geneva Conference on Afghanistan next month.
