Acting Foreign Minister Meets with the Ambassador of Germany and Chargé de’affaires of France and United Kingdom to Kabul
KABUL – Mohammad Haneef Atmar Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the ambassador of Germany Mr. Axel Zeidler and Chargé d’affaires of United Kingdom, Mr. Ian Collard and France, Mr. Thomas Guibert, today afternoon.
At the outset, German Ambassador and Chargé de’affaires of the UK and France condemned the recent horrendous attack on Kabul University and expressed their deep condolences and solidarity to Minister Atmar. They renewed their commitment to stand by the Afghan government and people in fight against terrorism.
Minister Atmar appreciated the solidarity and continued commitment and cooperation of their respective countries for Afghanistan in condemnation of the attack on Kabul University and over the past nineteen years as well as their support to the Afghanistan peace process.
They then discussed the Conference on Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Convention (OPCW) and other related treaties and resolutions of the United Nations on the matter. The Conference, of the state parties that oversee the implementation of the chemical weapons conventions, is to be held from 30th November to 4th December this year.
In closing, all three heads of missions assured Minister Atmar of their countries’ commitment and support to the Afghanistan peace negotiations, preservation of the gains made over the past two decades and strengthening bilateral relations between Afghanistan and their respective countries.
