Foreign Minister Atmar Receives Congratulatory Message from U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo
KABUL – The U.S. Secretary of State, His Excellency Michael R. Pompeo, congratulated Mr. Haneef Atmar on his confirmation by the Wolesi Jirga as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
In a congratulatory message delivered to Minister Atmar by Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Ambassador Ross Wilson, the U.S. Secretary of State has said:
“Afghanistan is entering a period of new challenges and opportunities and we are pleased to know that its foreign relations will be in experienced hands. The United States looks forward to our continued partnership with you as we work together to achieve a negotiated political settlement to Afghanistan’s four-decade-long conflict. The Afghan people deserve to finally live in peace and harmony, enjoying the benefits of regional connectivity, self-sufficiency, and economic prosperity.”
In his letter, H.E. Secretary Pompeo has also stated that the United States looks forward to working with Minister Atmar to deepen the enduring bilateral partnership between the United States and Afghanistan.
Minister Atmar highly appreciates the Secretary of State’s reassuring message and looks forward to working with His Excellency Pompeo to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the United States of America.
