Foreign Minister Takes the Oath of Office
KABUL – Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar took the oath of office as Minister of Foreign Affairs in a special ceremony on Thursday in the presence of His Excellency the President and his deputies.
This is the fifth oath of office by Mr. Mohammad Hanif Atmar in the last two decades. He previously served as National Security Adviser, Minister of Interior, Minister of Education, and Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
The Foreign Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to H.E President Ashraf Ghani, members of Parliament, and the proud people of Afghanistan, for giving him the honor of serving the nation with dedication for the past nineteen years. Mr. Atmar also praised the international community and regional partners for supporting peace, stability, the social and economic well-being of the people, strengthening government institutions for providing services and security, and promoting democratic values in the country.
