NEW YORK – Deputy Foreign Minister Ms. Adela Raz met with Canada’s Minister of International Development Ms. Marie-Claude Bibeau.
At this meeting, Ms. Adela Raz expressed her appreciation for Canada’s support in various fields, especially in empowering women. Pointing at current challenges faced by Afghan women, Ms. Raz mentioned Afghan Government’s efforts and will for empowering women and strengthening their presence in different levels of decision making and called the National Priority Program for Economic Empowerment of Women an important example in this regard.
The Deputy Foreign Minister called the establishment of Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry for strengthening businesswomen and providing facilities as positive measures of the Afghan Government and asked the Canadian Government for investment in education and higher education of women and its continuous cooperation with the Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce.
The Canadian Minister of International Development mentioned her country’s current programs and promised to cooperate in this regard.
