EU Ambassador to Kabul Calls on Deputy Foreign Minister
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman met in his office the Ambassador and Head of European Union Delegation Mr. Pierre Mayaudon, this afternoon.
Ambassador Mayaudon paid this courtesy call to discuss new engagements in Afghanistan.
The two sides discussed a range of issues, including areas the EU mission could engage in.
Ambassador Mayaudon briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister on the new areas the EU is determined to engage in.
Deputy Foreign Minister appreciating the engagements of the EU in Afghanistan welcomed the new areas of cooperation which includes peace, returning refugees, and reintegration of ex-combatants.
The EU Ambassador reiterated the mission’s support of an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.
Both sides emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the ministry and the EU delegation.
