Foreign Minister Meets Uzbek Foreign Minister
SAMARKAND - Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E Abdulaziz Kamilov prior to the first round of talks between India and Central Asia.
The Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for Uzbekistan's efforts for peace in Afghanistan and called the Uzbek President's initiative for holding the Tashkent Meeting on peace outstanding.
The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan said that the regional consensus for peace in Afghanistan was extending and emphasized his country's endeavors in supporting regional and international efforts for stability in Afghanistan. He stressed solution for Afghanistan's problems through direct negotiations between the Afghan Government and the Taliban.
Foreign Minister Rabbani also praised Uzbekistan's scholarships, especially in the field of railway engineering.
