German Ambassador To Kabul Pays Courtesy Call On Deputy Foreign Minister
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Peter Prugel, this morning.
The two sides discussed a wide range of issues and exchanged views on bilateral arrangements as well as important events and processes.
Ambassador Prugel, congratulating the Deputy Foreign Minister on the assumption of new post as the Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, expressed desire to working closely with his office.
Deputy Minister Zaman thanked Germany for its engagement in various areas of cooperation with Afghanistan and its continued contribution to the security, institution-building and police training.
The Deputy Foreign Minister and the German Ambassador discussed in details issues of mutual interest including the peace roadmap, presidential elections as well as the Afghan government’s preparations and efforts in the two contexts.
Ambassador Prugel termed the role of Afghanistan’s neighbours in the peace process as ‘cricial’, reiterating his country’s support of an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process.
On the elections, the German Ambassador regarded the event as key to consolidating and sustaining the 17 year- achievements.
Deputy Foreign Minister Zaman thanked Germany for co-chairing the upcoming International Contact Group (ICG) Meeting due to take place in London next January.
