PARIS – At the UNESCO’s General Conference-40th Session that started on November 12, 2019 at its Headquarters in Paris; Member States elected new members of the Executive Board for a four year term. Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was also one of the candidates for holding a seat in the institution and was able to obtain a membership at the UNESCO Executive Board in a competitive process as a result of a constructive series of negotiations and effective efforts of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in UNESCO and ISESCO.
The Executive Board is one of the three main bodies of the UNESCO besides the General Conference and the Secretariat.
This selection is a major achievement in terms of elevating Afghanistan’s national image and highlighting Afghanistan’s role at the decision-making level of an important UN organization.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in France and Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission in UNESCO and ISESCO congratulates Afghanistan’s membership at the UNESCO Executive Board to the leadership of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the country’s diplomatic apparatus and assures them of the mission’s effective work towards ensuring Afghanistan’s interest in France as well as UNESCO and ISESCO.
KABUL – Acting Foreign Minister H.E Idrees Zaman met with Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kabul Mr. Oğuhzan Ertuğrul, this afternoon.
The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, including the 8th Ministerial Conference of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process (HoA-IP) which will be held on December 9, 2019 in Istanbul.
Both sides exchanged views on regional support to Afghanistan peace process. Foreign Minister further discussed the Afghan government’s 7-point peace plan.
Foreign Minister thanked the government of Turkey for their continued cooperation and commitment to the peace efforts in Afghanistan.
KABUL – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman met with the outgoing Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Kabul Mr. Petr Stepanek, this afternoon.
Having completed his tenure as the Czech Ambassador to Kabul, Mr. Stepanek, called on Foreign Minister to bid farewell and discuss issues of mutual interest before departing from the current mission.
At the outset, the two sides, in this meeting, exchanged the due congratulations and appreciations.
Ambassador Stepanek thanked the Foreign Minister for the cooperation his office maintained with the mission.
Minister Zaman congratulated the outgoing Czech Ambassador for completing his tenure, which called productive.
This meeting also briefly focused on the recent developments, the important upcoming event; including the Intra Afghan dialogue due to be held in Beijing, and regional engagement based on the Afghan government’s 7 Point Peace Plan.
The two sides concluded the meeting with exchanging gifts of souvenir and wishes.

The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, peace efforts and the presidential elections.
The two sides emphasized on an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
They also discussed in details the Afghan government’s 7-point peace plan.
KABUL – Turkish Ambassador to Kabul Mr. Ozan Ortugrul called on Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation Mr. Mirwais Nab today.
At the outset, Mr. Ortugrul congratulated Mr. Nab for assuming office as the Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation, and shed light on the preparations of the Republic of Turkey for convening the 8th Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process (HoA-IP) Ministerial Conference, due to be held on December 9, 2019 in Istanbul.
Deputy Minister Nab, thanking the government of the Republic of Turkey for its cooperation with Afghanistan in various areas. Both sides discussed the preparations for convening the 8th HoA-IP Ministerial Conference, calling it a fundamental process for expanding regional cooperation in the Heart of Asia region.
