Deputy Foreign Minister Meets German Bundestag Member

BERLIN – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the member of the German Bundestag Ms. Aydan Özoğuz.

Deputy Minister Zaman thanked the German Government for its continued support to Afghanistan and counted Germany’s contribution in the Peace Process as significant.

Ms. Aydan Özoğuz expressed her concern regarding the recent attacks on schools and killing of civilians and emphasized the support of Germany, not least, its Bundestag’s in the betterment of situation in Afghanistan.

The two sides exchanged opinion on the peace process, Moscow meeting, elections, and 3rd Kabul Process meeting.

Deputy Foreign Minister Attends Lunch Reception Hosted by Ambassador Potzel

BERLIN – At the sidelines of the ‘Berlin Climate and Security Conference’, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Idrees Zaman attended a lunch reception hosted by the Special Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Markus Potzel.

Deputy Minister Zaman provided a brief on the political situation, the peace process & inter-Afghan talks, Kabul Process III Meeting, the upcoming Presidential Elections, and the outcome of the Consultative Loya Jirga on Peace, and called for international community’s support for peace in the country.

The reception was also attended by: the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto, the British Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Mr. Gareth Bayley, European Union Special Envoy for Afghanistan Mr. Roland Kobia and Norwegian Special Representative for Afghanistan Ms. Liza Goldien. They expressed their firm support for holding transparent and fair elections and for the peace process led and owned by the people and government of Afghanistan.

Deputy Foreign Minister Meets UK’s State Minister for Asia and the Pacific

BERLIN –Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific at the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mr. Mark Field at the sidelines of the ‘Berlin Climate and Security Conference’.

The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations between the two countries, dynamics of Afghanistan’s Political and Security Situation, the Peace Process led and owned by the people and government of Afghanistan, Kabul Process III Meeting, the upcoming Presidential Elections and H.E. the President of Afghanistan’s upcoming visit to the UK. 

Deputy Foreign Minister Attends & Addresses Berlin Climate and Security Conference

BERLIN – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Idrees Zaman participated and addressed ‘Berlin Climate and Security Conference’ that was hosted by the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany in the city of Berlin. On behalf of Afghanistan, he talked about impact of climate and security on fragile states.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister Zaman mentioned of the direct effects of drought, climate change and their role in increased insecurity in fragile states and briefed on the Government of Afghanistan’s undertakings for protecting the environment at the national, regional and international levels.

Deputy Foreign Minister Meets Ambassadors of Resolute Support Mission Framework Nations

BRUSSELS - Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Ambassadors of Resolute Support Mission Framework Nations at NATO Headquarters.

In this meeting, Mr. Zaman provided briefing on Afghan Government's reforms in the security sector, the peace process, regional consensus on Peace in Afghanistan, Kabul Process III Conference, Heart of Asia– Istanbul Process senior officials meeting, and the Presidential elections.

Following the detailed discussions, the Ambassadors of Resolute Support Mission Framework Nations reiterated their support to the Afghan Government, as well as the he Afghan  led and Afghan owned  peace process.
