KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Idrees Zaman met in his office this morning with the Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kabul, Mr. Giles Lever.
Mr. Lever paid this courtesy call on Deputy Minister Zaman after his assumption of new office.
The two sides talked about the bilateral ties of the two countries and discussed the upcoming events of importance to Afghanistan.
KABUL – The Ambassador of Pakistan to Kabul, Mr. Zahid Nasrullah Khan, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman, this afternoon.
Ambassador Nasrullah Khan congratulated Deputy Minister Zaman on assuming the new post.
The two sides discussed Afghanistan – Pakistan bilateral arrangements, including issues related to transit; as well as the upcoming important events.
KABUL – Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met with the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, H.E. Zalmay Khalilzad this morning.
Describing his efforts in bringing peace in Afghanistan and talks with regional countries’ officials for further coordination to creating a suitable atmosphere for peace dialogue, Mr. Khalilzad reiterated the United States commitment to Afghanistan’s peace.
Both sides exchanged views on security, stability, regional and international fora, including Geneva Conference, as well as regional cooperation for achieving peace.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman met in his office the Charge d’affair of the German Embassy in Kabul, this afternoon.
Mr. Christoph Peleikis, Deputy Head of Mission to Kabul, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Minister Zaman after the latter’s recent assumption of new office.
The two sides briefly discussed matters of bilateral nature and exchanged views on the ways to further strengthen the ties through cooperation in some areas.
The Deputy Foreign Minister thanked the government and the people of Germany for the country’s assistance to Afghanistan over the past years.
KABUL – Non-Resident Ambassador of Ukraine for Afghanistan, Mr. Viktor Nikitіuk bid farewell today to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani.
H.E. Rabbani thanked Ukraine for its support and cooperation with Afghanistan and called for the opening of Ukrainian Embassy in Kabul. He also appreciated Mr. Nikitivok’s achievements as the non-resident Ukrainian Ambassador for Afghanistan and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Mr. Nikitivok emphasized further cooperation between the two countries.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation H.E. Adela Raz met in her office the Ambassador of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Mr. Huseyin Avni Botsali, this morning.
The meeting takes place ahead of the upcoming Geneva Conference.
Deputy Minister Raz and Ambassador Botsali discussed and exchanged views on matters of mutual relevance to Afghanistan and the mission, focusing mainly on the Geneva Conference.
Ambassador Botsali informed Deputy Minister Raz of the OIC Secretary General’s participation at the Geneva Ministerial Conference.
The two sides discussed the modality and details of the upcoming conference including the side events.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Nasir Ahmad Andisha met Pakistani Ambassador to Kabul Mr. Zahed Nasrullah Khan.
The two sides talked about the inauguration of Jenah Hosptial in Kabul and related preparations by the concerned authorities.
They also discussed and exchanged views on a range of issues, including diplomatic visas, security measures at the missions of the two countries, as well as legal and consular issues.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Idrees Zaman received in his office the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Kabul Mr. Vinay Kumar, this morning.
The courtesy call comes after the recent assumption of new office by Mr. Zaman as the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.
The two sides discussed and exchanged views on a wide range of issues, focusing mainly on the multiple areas of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.
At the outset, Deputy Minister Zaman and Ambassador Kumar talked about the various aspects of the historical and civilizational ties between the two countries.
Deputy Foreign Minister Zaman noted with appreciation India’s cooperation with Afghanistan in the economic and cultural areas highlighting the country’s particular focus on infrastructure and capacity building, including the scholarships granted to Afghan students over the years.
To further bolster the already extensive bilateral cooperation, the two sides discussed in details and exchanged views on various areas, emphasizing the importance of enhanced consultation for the desired outcome in mutual goals.
KABUL – Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani received the Turkmen Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ministers’ Cabinet Deputy Chairman H.E. Rashid Meredov in his office to discuss important areas of bilateral cooperation.
The Turkmen foreign minister and his accompanying delegation arrived in Kabul for a day’s visit to discuss issues of mutual importance and interest.
The two sides met this noon and discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.
Foreign Minister Rabbani expressed contentment over the strengthening ties between the two countries. He thanked the friendly country’s President H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow for paying special attention to the regional mega projects, namely the TAPI gas pipeline, as well as the TAP electro-power extension which has secured power in the bordering provinces.
The Afghan Foreign Minister also appreciated the highlights of President Berdimuhamedow’s statement at the 73rd UN General Assembly on Afghanistan’s geo-strategic importance in regional trade and connectivity. He recalled with appreciation the recent 7th Joint Economic Commission meeting hosted by Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.
Later in the day, the two countries’ delegates headed by their respective foreign ministers conducted the 5th Joint Security Cooperation Commission meeting to discuss issues of mutual importance, including measures in the bordering regions.
The commission meeting was followed by the signing of a Protocol between the two countries’ foreign ministers.
KABUL – Mr. Edris Zaman was officially introduced as the new Deputy Foreign Minister in Political Affairs. This event was attended by the Second Vice President, H.E Sarwar Danish and Foreign Minister H.E Salahuddin Rabbani, and Foreign Ministry staff.
While congratulating the new Deputy Foreign Minister H.E Danish said, “Achievements in terms of foreign policy at the Foreign Ministry over the past four years are commendable.”
The Foreign Minister delivered a speech and said that the achievements of the Ministry were due to team work, hard work, cooperation, and coordination at the leadership level. He congratulated Mr. Zaman for his new tenure and wished him success.
Mr. Edris Zaman thanked the government officials for believing in him and committed to carrying out his tasks in a proper and coordinated manner.
