KABUL – Chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman, the Steering Committee for Reporting on the Implementation of International Instruments held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with participation of deputy ministers of other relevant ministries.
In this meeting, recommendations of the third round of Afghanistan’s UPR were discussed and endorsed. Necessary arrangements were made with regards to the second meeting of the Exclusive Working Group on Human Rights, Governance and Refugees.
In the framework of the ‘Cooperation Agreement on Partnership and Development’ signed between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and European Union on February 18, 2018, the second meeting of the Exclusive Working Group on Human Rights, Governance and Refugees is due to be held on May 9, 2019.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Kabul, Mr. Sharafuddin Imam.
The Tajik Ambassador hinted at historical and friendly relations between the two countries and added that Tajikistan is ready to provide required electricity to Afghanistan
Mr. Zaman called Tajikistan one of Afghanistan’s allies in Central Asia and added that Tajikistan is a partner of Afghanistan’s economic projects.
The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations, counterterrorism, trade and transit, expanding regional ties, the proposal of establishment of the supreme cooperation council, strategic agreement between the two countries and border cooperation.
KABUL- Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani opened and addressed Afghanistan-SCO Ambassadorial Meeting. The meeting was then chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Idrees Zaman.
During the meeting; economic cooperation, security cooperation, peace and Afghanistan’s full membership at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were discussed.
KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kabul Mr. Liu Jinsong today.
Deputy Minister Zaman, appreciating China’s assistance for Afghanistan, deemed China’s contribution in Afghanistan – Pakistan – China trilateral meeting as significant and called for further cooperation in this regard.
Supporting the Afghan Led and Afghan Owned Peace Process, the Chinese Ambassador added that the Chinese government would increase the number of short-term training scholarships for the diplomats and the administrative staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
The two sides discussed bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation and the current political situation of the country.
KABUL – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan summoned the Counselor of Pakistan's Embassy in Kabul and once again expressed its objection on Prime Minister Imran Khan's remarks.
After Afghanistan acknowledged the explanation provided by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry as stating there was a misunderstanding in PM's remarks, Afghanistan's Ambassador to Islamabad returned to Pakistan to resume his mission. Afghanistan considers the recent statements of Prime Minister Imran Khan an explicit interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan and deems PM's remarks a return to his previous stance and thus demands explanation by the Government of Pakistan.
