Rabbani Meets Norwegian Defense Minister
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani received in his office this morning the Norwegian Defense Minister Mr. Frank Bakke-Jensen.
Welcoming Mr. Jensen to the country at outset of the meeting, H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani called the Kingdome of Norway a good friend who has stood at the side of Afghanistan during difficult days. The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation and gratitude for Norway’s cooperation in the spheres of reconstruction and ensuring security, especially in respect of increasing the number of Norwegian forces within the framework of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.
Later, Mr.Jensen expressed sorrow and condolences regarding the latest savage terror attacks in Afghanistan and paid tribute to the achievements of the Afghan security and defense forces on combating terrorism. The Norwegian Defense Minister noted that the training that the Afghan forces have lately received was ‘promising’.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the Afghan government’s peace efforts, the need for combating those groups that resort to war and bloodshed as well as Kabul’s endeavors towards gaining a regional and international consensus on the fight against terrorism. They also discussed the perspective of the Kabul Process Meeting and the latest political development and their ramifications in the country.
